The Roots of our Veterinary Clinic Take a step back in time to the year 1940. "During the war we exported six stock cockerels to Russia from Dunmow train station!" Just a snippet of history from a client who actually lived at Marks Farm while working in the land army. Back then it was all very basic, with no running water or electricity. Thankfully, we now have all the modern utilities at Marks Farm, and today the farmhouse remains one of the five original manor houses in the area. Today finds Vet Jerry Moloney heading the teams at our Dunmow and Takeley Clinics. However, he has been practising in the Essex area for over thirty years, establishing his original surgery at Braintree in the mid eighties. His sister Denise Moloney, joined him as he expanded into Halstead in 1989, when he took over the then Waters Partnership. Marks Farm followed in 1992 as an equine and small animal partnership, with a complete re-launch during 2001, as a small animal practice based here at Marks Farm Veterinary Centre. Extensive refurbishments in 2006 and again in 2019, provided a new operating theatre, separate dog and cat wards, a refit to the in-house laboratory, and major investment in new diagnostic equipment, plus new management offices and staff facilities. In May 2013 our second branch at Takeley opened, and in 2014 we incorporated as North Essex Veterinary Ltd known as Moloney Veterinary Clinics. In 2021 we were delighted to join the VetPartners Group of Practices with Jerry Moloney as Clinical Director. This has provided the support and career opportunities associated with being part of a larger organisation of people who share our fundamental values of outstanding service, exceptional care, great team work and excellent communication, not only in-house but also between our staff, our clients and our patients! Facing the future with confidence and enthusiasm, we look ahead to the great progress we can achieve together.
